Snoring isn’t just annoying; it’s linked to serious health problem. How do you feel when you wake up one fateful morning to hear a sad story of one of your love ones death! Overnight? Snoring is a very dangerous silent killer, people die of chronic snoring though its rear but it has to be tackled before it’s too late.
Snoring alone does not kill until its graduate to sleep apnea. Not all snorers have sleep apnea but almost all apnea patients are chronic snorers.
Snoring is not just a problem that is experienced by adults, there parents need to be concerned about their child’s well being if the habitually snore and it is loud and obnoxious.
Your child may be distracted in the classroom or even at home, your child may also seem to be too tired all the time these may all be cause due to loosing some sleep in the night. A lot of risk is also associated with snoring in pregnant women.
Snoring can also run in families as it is hereditary, Researchers at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital found Children whose parents snore have a three-fold increased risk of being noisy sleepers themselves.
Other risk associated with snoring include frequent headache, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, heart attack and stroke infact snoring increases stroke by 65%.
All individuals that habitually snore should consider taking medication now! Because it is 100% curable

Waking up to the sound of someone snoring only to roll over and find your bed partner sound asleep is never fun. That is mainly because of the fact that if you woke up because someone was snoring and it wasn’t them, it had to be you. That is when you have to decide to look for some sort of snoring relief to keep that from happening again. There are actually some very simple solutions that can give you the snoring relief that you need.
Attaining snoring relief can actually be accomplished by some very simple things such as using a different pillow. Several people like to sleep with pillows stacked beneath their heads. If your snoring only occurs seasonally then most likely your snoring would be from seasonal allergies. If that is the case then you can try something as simple as taking allergy medication. You can find these types of pillow in most any store and they aren’t all that expensive, especially if you taking into consideration all of the peaceful sleep you will be getting.
Being overweight is something that can lead to some serous snoring problems. A change in lifestyle is something that can not only give you snoring relief but also prevent many life threatening diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, risk of stroke and these are just a few. So to lose weight will not only give you snoring relief, it will give you a whole new lease on life.
Another way to obtain snoring relief is to try a different sleeping position. Many that have trouble with snoring sleep on either their side or their back. But if you sleep on your stomach then you will no doubt have less trouble with your snoring. By sleeping on your stomach you are keeping less stress on your airways and causing them to have less trouble getting the air through them.

Nasal strips are placed over the bridge of your nose and will work to open your airways leaving the passages wider for the air to travel through. Less restriction will lead to less chances of that dreadful snore. Dentists have a type of oral appliance that can also be used to reduce snoring. •Sleep positions: Don’t sleep on your back because most people who sleeps straight on the back snores, whereas snoring doesn’t occur when one sleeps on one’s side(This is the best position for you to sleep). When you sleep on your back, your tongue falls backwards into your throat, which can narrow your airway and partially block airflow.
•Obesity: Lose weight to increase the airway space; to prevent snoring, it is advisable to cut down on fat consumption through proper exercise and a good diet. Daily exercise also improves muscle tone
•Alternative therapies: Hypnosis, gem and crystal therapy, and magnetic therapy are other techniques that can alleviate snoring.
•Homeopathic medicines: Some homeopathic medicines are also used to stop snoring. The popular ones are Y-snore which decongests the nose and allows air to flow freely to the trachea. The other one goes under the name of Snore Stop
•Avoid taking caffeinated drinks

The most common causes of snoring include the tongue interfering with the free flow of air to the lungs, narrow nasal passages, smoking, drinking, eating too much and obesity.
Over feeding without much exercise
Too much eating without exercise may lead to having fats around your throat. People often snore because their neck is too short and fat, and with too much body weight, snoring is bound to occur as even a few extra pounds could cause a person to snore.
Taking Alcohol
Do you have to give up the alcohol?
No, drinking alcohol alone does not cause snoring but when you take it in excess, its surely cause snoring as the alcohol goes to all the different parts of the body and slows down the speed at which the brain responds This in turn will make the muscles relax and make a person snore at night.
Sleeping Position
The best position to sleep is to lie on your side and not on your back! As most people think. An incorrect position may cause your tongue, chin and the excess fat tissue beneath the chin to relax and thus squeeze the airway causing a person to snore.
Nasal ProblemsThis condition prevents a person to breathe through the nose and instead have to breathe through an open mouth. In this condition, nasal sprays will help or inhale steam to help you reduce your nasal congestion.
Causes of sleep apnea
- Most people diagnosed with sleep apnea are obese. They find it difficult to breathe due to the increased neck fat which is narrow to the airway.
- Obstructive sleep apnea occurs mostly in people who are about 35-40 years or older. Weight gain and a decrease in muscle tone occur with aging.
- Sleep apnea is more common in postmenopausal women.
- Hereditary may play a role.
- Muscular dystrophy and polio increase the chance of obstructive sleep apnea, as do other medical conditions such as allergies, nasal tumors and cold.
- Also snoring can be a major cause of sleep apnea.

Snoring
Snoring is a common sleep disorder that can affect just about everyone; it is the vibration of respiratory structures and the resulting sound, due to obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping.
If the airways in your throat and nose are narrowed during sleep, the air you breathe in and out has to push its way through a smaller passage. This can create a “snoring” noise, mostly due to vibrations of loose tissue in the back of your throat. In some cases the sound may be soft, in others loud and unpleasant.
Any person can snore. Frequently, people who do not regularly snore will report snoring after a viral illness, after drinking alcohol, or when taking some medications. Studies estimate that 30% of women and 45% of men snore on a regular basis. It is most common in men and those who are overweight. Even a baby or a pet may snore!
Dangers of Snoring
Is snoring serious?
Yes, you should not take it for a joke because it is fatal. A lot of people are not aware that snoring is very dangerous and may lead to dead. Take a look at some dangers of snoring
- Snorers have a markedly higher risk of developing heart attacks, high blood pressure, or strokes.
- Snorers have a 300% higher risk of becoming involved in an automobile accident.
- Snorers have a 400% to 500% higher risk of daytime fatigue.
- 25% of all preadolescence children are chronic snorers, and most of these have some form of sleep apnea ,
- Snoring causes sleep disturbances that lead to increased anxiety, hyperirritability, decreased memory and poor concentration.
- Snoring causes sleep apnea , a serious medical condition, in 20% of all chronic snorers.
What is sleep apnea?
The word “apnea” literally means “not breathing.” People with sleep apnea actually stop breathing for periods of time during sleep. As their oxygen levels fall and carbon dioxide levels rise, their brain eventually becomes aroused enough to wake them up, and they start breathing again. The cycle repeats over and over again throughout the night, resulting in constant interruptions in sleep and feeling tired all day long.
This is actually a life-threatening condition. The most immediate risk is falling asleep while driving or doing something else that requires sharp mental attention. Sleep apnea also raises blood pressure throughout the body and in the lungs. Over time, that causes thickening of the lung tissues and permanent lung disease. The elevated blood pressure is also a risk factor for multiple other health problems, including heart attack, congestive heart failure, stroke, and kidney disease.
The most common cause of sleep apnea is Snoring and being overweight. Alcohol and sedating medications (both over-the-counter and prescription) also contribute to sleep apnea. Sometimes the cause is a neurological condition.
Here are some of the Symptoms of sleep apnea :
- Loud Snoring . Many, but not all people who snore have sleep apnea.
- Frequent cessation of breathing . Ask someone with whom you share a bedroom, or record yourself sleeping. Pauses often last 2-10 seconds, but they can be even longer.
- Frequent awakening . Do you startle yourself awake in the middle of the night, perhaps gasping for air? It may seem like you snored so loudly you woke yourself up, but it’s really due to that pause in your breathing.
- Waking up in a sweat during the night.
- Unrefreshing sleep . People with sleep apnea still feel tired in the morning because they didn’t get much sleep overnight.
- Daytime sleepiness . If you’re so tired during the day that you nearly fall asleep while driving or doing other things that require concentration, sleep apnea is a likely cause.
- Headaches . The low oxygen and high carbon dioxide levels overnight, combined with inadequate sleep, can cause severe headaches, especially first thing in the morning.
- sore throat, or dry mouth in the mornings after waking up
- Sexual dysfunction — Obstructive sleep apnea sufferers may experience a lack of sexual desire due to fatigue and even impotence in men.
If any of these symptoms describe you then you have to do something fast! Because it can never go on its own you have to treat it! Many people die as a result of sleep apnea, but are ignorant of it, some even die while sleeping.
If you are a snorer you have to tackle your snoring now! Before it graduates into sleep apnea and from sleep apnea it may lead to death!
